Surrogacy

Starting a family is a long-cherished dream in everyone’s life. However, while there are many who are waiting for long to have their own children, for one reason or another, this can be due to their inability to conceive or carry pregnancy to its term or maybe it is medically/ naturally not possible for them to conceive like in case of LGBT Couples and Single Parents.

Common Causes choosing to undergo Surrogacy can be broadly classified as below:

  • In cases of Single Parents or LGBT Couples.
  • In case of medical issues like woman suffering from MRKH syndrome, i.e. born without a uterus (this occurs in 1 in 10,000 women); or who have had a Hysterectomy (removal of uterus due to multiple reasons); or suffering from severe debilitating illnesses such as Severe Diabetes, Hypertension, cardiac, liver or kidney disease wherein they can get pregnant but cannot carry a pregnancy to term without jeopardising their and the babies health; or with severe degree of Adenomyosis, or with untreatable Asherman’s syndrome due to Gential Tuberculosis, or Women who have to undergo chemo or radiation therapy because of different kinds of cancers etc.

Surrogacy offers tremendous hope to childless people and hope of parenting one’s own child. Third-party Surrogate Parenting is mainly for infertile people who are unable to achieve pregnancy through conventional methods and treatments.

Third-party Surrogate Parenting or Surrogacy is a collective term for combination of one or more of the following Assisted Reproductive Technology(ART) Procedures.

Surrogacy, Egg Donation, Embryo Adoption, Gestational Surrogacy, Donor Insemination and IVF. Frozen-embryos

In Surrogacy, another woman carries a baby for a couple/ individual who are unable to conceive or carry a child themselves. Types of Surrogacy

There are two types of surrogacy: commercial and altruistic. Commercial surrogacy involves a birth mother receiving payment or material benefit.Altruistic (non-commercial) surrogacy is when the birth mother does not receive any payment. Even in Altrustic Types of Surrogacy Arrangements some countries allow reasonable reimbursement of the surrogate mother’s medical expenses.
